Remote Explore in Oil and Gas Industry

Cost-effective unmanned Drone solutions for Exploration, Survey offers the Oil and Gas industry new capabilities that reduce cost and operational risk while also improving efficiency. Remote Explore can help companies to measure and quantify oil spills, determine how the oil is moving in the water and provide information and imagery to the technical teams in-house. Infrared (IR) imaging can be extremely helpful to survey oil spills making it easier to see where the oil is spreading. This critical information increases the situational awareness of first responders to the incident, increasing safety and the ability to make better decisions in the clean-up planning efforts.

Traditional techniques are still very useful and not all redundant and we use the modern techniques as added value to existing solutions and try and reduce inefficient and costly to conduct solutions. The solutions we provide can help to reduce workers risk by not having to climb high-rising stacks and inspections have caused lengthy activity shutdowns.

At Remote Explore we can help you take your business to the next level with the customized drones designed for commercial use and appropriate sensor package for the job.

  • Oil Pipeline Inspections
  • Onshore and Offshore oil platform inspections
  • Oil spill and damage inspection or detection
  • Gas flare stack inspection and emission monitoring
  • Oil/Gas pipeline surveillance incident mapping
  • Search and rescue (SAR)
  • Coastline monitoring
  • Terrain mapping
  • Facility security
  • Asset, environmental & wildlife surveys

Flare Stack Monitoring

We can provide you with detailed optical imagery of flare stack heads where fast flight control responsiveness is critical. With our solutions, you can avoid personnel to climb the stacks, risk to personnel is eliminated and production time is left uninterrupted. This form of remote inspection can enable you to detect any form of damage that may be detrimental to the operation of the flare stacks, including damage to piping, structural abnormalities and various other internal and external inconsistencies. Repairs and maintenance are no longer costly and time-consuming.

Offshore and onshore oil asset inspections

Working offshore only adds to the intricacy of inspecting oil platforms, and puts workers at a higher risk. At times, the company has to initiate lengthy shutdowns that can damage efficiency and operations are forced to go offline. Same applies to onshore scenarios where the site is far from the Engineers and remote inspection can cut costs. Again we don’t suggest that the traditional methods are not used at all, but to using drones can help minimize these complications and reduce costs. Drones can fly within meters of the offshore platform or the rigs whilst send real-time information to the operator on the rig. HD video and still imagery can be provided from all angles - vital information that can be used to assess and plan necessary work in advance. The data can be sent to engineers to make informed recommendations for the next necessary action.

External petrochemical facility inspection

Safety checks or technical evaluations can be done by our Drone teams on large petrochemical facilities. Traditionally this was done by workers on foot or expensive fly-over inspections that require endless safety precautions. Using drones for this application makes data acquisition in dangerous environments possible. Weather conditions that normally endanger inspection teams are no longer have to be a barrier to carrying out such inspections.

Oil Spill inspection an detection

Oil spills have caused distressing damage to people and the environment in the past with huge fines imposed on the operators. Early detection is essential in any operation. It has become ever more critical to take precautionary measure to prevent and clear up from a potential oil spill and associated contamination. With the use of the right sensors, our drones can be used to measure and quantify oil spills, with the ability to assess where the oil is spreading, how quickly it is moving in the water and the specific areas it has reached. This real-time information can determine where to send response vessels and recovers time previously spent on the process of damage detection.

Gas Emissions or leak monitoring

The highly sensitive optical sensors that are available with drones that can help monitor gas emissions over the critical operation and large areas that are otherwise difficult to cover. We are also working on onboard gas sensors that can detect abnormal gas levels in the air. They make surveying, identifying and correcting leaks a manageable task. Drones help reduce the cost of carrying out such inspections and the data we provide can allow internal staff to safely produce a 3D mapping of drill sites, gas pipelines, landfills and other municipal operations.
